I hope Bonnie Fuller and HollywoodLife.com don’t object too much to me reposting their story here.

Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez Are Heros For Helping Children Desperately In Need

Justin Bieber Charity

December 16, 2011: Justin and Selena are so rich and famous they could easily not bother doing the hard stuff– giving up their own time and personal warmth to children who are needy — but they do.

I heard two amazing stories today — one involved Justin Bieber and the other, Selena Gomez.

While I didn’t know the exact day this happened this week, I do know that Selena Gomez literally walked out of her recording studio in Los Angeles when she heard about the plight of a 13-year-old terminally-ill girl named Hana, who is a huge fan of Selena.

Hana is heartbreakingly suffering from an incredibly rare disease called progenia, which makes little children age at a rate that is 8 to 10 times faster than normal. Most victims don’t live beyond the age of 13 and tiny little Hana, pictured here, is living on borrowed time at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles.

Selena, who lives a beyond-busy life, heard about Hana through Ryan Seacrest, and decided that nothing was more important than visiting Hana.

I ask you — how many 19-year-olds have the maturity to put other people’s needs ahead of their own, especially the needs of a stranger? Most people wouldn’t even be comfortable visiting someone who was so sick. But Selena has proven once again that she’s no ordinary superstar.

She went to visit and spent time with Hana. Hana’s tutor Sarah reported back to Ryan that Selena made “Hana’s dream come true” and said Selena’s visit gave little Hana “the best Christmas ever.” Ryan himself described Selena as “one of the most generous people I ever met in my life,” and I have to agree.

Her boyfriend Justin is just as generous and if anything, even busier. But he took time today to play a concert for 610 students at the East Las Vegas elementary school. The school’s students come from very needy families and the school doesn’t just educate — it also provides food, clothing, dental care, glasses and more to the pupils, thanks to the work of its dedicated principal, Sherrie Gahn.

“Toothpaste, toiletries, food. These are a few things we just take for granted that these kids don’t get,” said Gahn.

When Justin appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show Oct. 31, he pledged to give $100,000 to the school and to play a concert there in December. Today he made good on that promise, tweeting, “Heading to Vegas in the morning to keep a promise to a special group of kids.”

And he tweeted again a couple of hours ago, “In Vegas feeling good. Time to make some fun happen.”

Boy, I bet he did! Those students must be feeling fantastic having Justin sing to them, meet them and to have his donation making a material difference in their lives.

So the next time you feel too busy to take some time to make someone’s life a little better, remember that if Selena and Justin can do it, so can you!

Thanks, Selena and Justin!
