New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve

A good feel-good movie with a star-studded cast. Talks about forgiveness and second chances in a positive way, although all these types of movies tend to be a bit cliche’. Still, it makes for an entertaining experience with a positive message.

Adventures of Tintin

Adventures of Tintin

Not very impressed with this movie, although in its time I’m sure the book series, “The Adventures of Tintin” was very good literature for boys and probably girls too. Its just that this type of literature seems a bit out of place today as a movie, or maybe it was just the way it was […]

Father’s Heartache Inspires Christian Album

Father’s Heartache Inspires Christian Album

Sadness and pain is not something we look forward to. But life brings plenty of it. So much so that when we are suffering we often ask where God is in all of it. This is a story of someone who is searching for an answer to that question in a beautiful way. The story […]

New Miracle. New Saint.

New Miracle. New Saint.

North America will have a new saint soon. A second miracle due to the intercession of Blessed Kateri Tekawitha has been officially approved by the Vatican. Kateri was an American Indian girl who died at the age of 24. Here are the basics of the miracle that was just approved. At the end, we offer […]

War Horse

War Horse

Inspiring story of a horse and a young man as they deal with hardship and tragedy. Very good family values, especially about learning to understand the “demons” that haunt our parents and discovering the quiet heroism of our parents in spite of their weaknesses and limitations. The boy’s father suffers from occasional alcoholism and general […]

We Bought a Zoo

We Bought a Zoo

I really recommend this movie. I thought it would be a very nice family comedy, which would be good enough in itself, but it is much more than that. It is a beautiful movie about loss and finding a way to move on. Matt Damon and the other actors and actresses (including new teen star […]

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Tom Cruise and friends make another exciting installment of the Mission Impossible series. As usual, the movie has incredible chase scenes, suspense, explosions, and adventure that all make a really exciting experience. An evil scientist wants to start a nuclear war, and the Mission Impossible team is framed as the ones who are guilty. They […]

Sherlocke Holmes, A Game of Shadows

Sherlocke Holmes, A Game of Shadows

Robert Downey Jr. is as entertaining as ever playing the hyperintelligent, hyperactive hero to perfection in this second installment of the Sherlocke Holmes adaptation. Plenty of action, explosions, intrigue, humor, and adventure to keep you going the length of the movie. The on-going banter about the pros and cons of marriage (Dr. Watson is getting […]

The Muppets

The Muppets

Oh, what joy! The Muppets are back! For us old guys who grew up watching the muppets, it’s like life is worth living again! They are just as hilarious as always, although the dance scene with humans at the beginning of the movie is not that great… Still, if you can sit through that part […]

Happy Feet 2

Happy Feet 2

Fun cartoon movie, with lots of hilarious dancing and a message about family and about finding your value as a person (well, penguin, really, but it’s meant as a lesson for human beings…). I liked Arthur Christmas better than Happy Feet 2, but maybe it’s just me. Still, it’s fun.
